Off camera flash and digital workflow

This full day workshop gives students a chance to understand the principles of working with off camera flash and will also include a demonstration of my digital workflow using Capture One Pro. The first of these workshops will take place on the 25th September in Hallam Mill in Stockport.

After introductions and coffee the day will start with a demonstration of the principles of lighting and we will explore rim, fill and key lights and use a mixture of flash and natural light with the aim to achieve headshots such as these.

Students will then have the chance to apply these techniques by shooting their own images of the model.
After a short break for lunch we will move on to more advanced techniques including using gels for creative effect and balancing flash with natural light

Students will again have the opportunity to apply these techniques by taking their own images of our resident model.

After a further short break for coffee we’ll move on to discuss the digital workflow using Capture One Pro. This has been my RAW converter of choice and increasingly it is my tool of choice for much of my post work also. I’ll take you through importing images, basic adjustments such as colour balance, using level and curves and some more advanced techniques such as styles, the colour editor and export recipes.

To conclude the day there will be a Q&A session in case you didn’t get chance to ask anything during the course of the day.

This workshop will run from 10am – 5pm and the cost will be £125 per person with a £40 deposit payable in advance. Please contact me if you would like any further information or to book.  A map of the studio location is shown below.
